The Comet struck two years ago...

Nobody knows where it came from, all they know is that since it struck the world of Maia has grown dark and cold ... wrapped in an endless night of survival and violence. The spread of The Sickening began to worsen; its black disease poisoning the very soil of the world, eating up nature and replacing it with alien life-forms and grotesque monsters. Humanity dies slowly, becoming an endangered species, even as vampire kind grows in might, no longer needing to sleep and now vengeful from years of misunderstood persecution. The world has become a bloodbath of racial hatred -- Elves, Humans, Orks, Dwarves, Vampires, Mages, Werewolves . . . none are excused; all must draw blades and fight for their lives. Still, in some places the light shines all the brighter for the encroaching darkness.

Welcome to The Immortal Coil!

The Immortal Coil (TIC) is a play-by-post roleplay forum based on a medieval fantasy storyline. The more you roleplay in this world, the more your character will develop and the stronger they will become. Good roleplay is rewarded and encouraged by in-game wealth and items, as well as the chance to participate in quests. The forum focuses on written roleplay; player-created characters interacting through the use of imaginative story-driven posts.

Set in the original, pre-industrial fantasy realm of Maia, TIC features the engaging and interactive storyline of an epic battle between the life-streams of two opposing planets, and the heroes that are born from each. In a world with limited advanced technology but without sunlight, each individual must make choices, and the choices make by players will determine the destiny of the world and the game.

Those who can't roleplay quite as frequently are given the chance to earn power in other ways, such as mining, monster battles or even by opening their own shops. The forum has added RPG elements, such as PvP (player-versus-player) integrated battles, mini-games and items. Furthermore, TIC allows players to buy property for their characters, or shop for equipment and powers to ready themselves for unpredictable PvP battles between player characters. TIC even allows characters to worship the deity of their choice by in-character prayer or sacrifices, which could eventually be rewarded.

The owners of TIC hope to give you the chance to roleplay imaginatively in a world of vast possibilities, interacting with many other player-made characters. But more than that, we want to give you the chance to shape the world by the actions of your characters, limited only by your imagination and dedication to the world.

In addition to creating a character and character sheet for your new character, be sure to introduce yourself (your real self, not your character) by starting a new topic on the Introduce Yourself board.
